Samsung Unveils World's Thinnest Cell Phone, the X820 May 13th , 2006
Expected
to be released after June 2006, the Samsung SGH-X820 is
the slimmest cell phone in the market weighing only 66
grams and 6.6mm thick. And with the thinness of the phone
comes its vast number of sophisticated features:
- Built-in 2.0 megapixels digital
camera with Zoom/Flash, Video Recording & Playback and more features.
- GSM/GPRS/Edge enabled
- 80MB of internal memory (unfortunately
this cannot be expanded via a microSD/Transflash slot)
- MP3 Multimedia Player (supported
files include MP3, AAC, WMA). It also has capabilities
in playing video files.
- X820 operates on the tri-band
GSM 900/1800/1900 network and measures 113mm
x 50mm x 6.9mm.

- Speakerphone and handsfree
functionality
- TV-Out port feature allows
you to connect the phone to an external big screen
or monitor (TV) to view pics/videos or when it comes to
making presentations using the built-in document viewer
software programs.
- OpenWave WAP 2.0 enabled with
EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized) allowing rapid
data transfer rates and higher internet surfing.
- English & Spanish user
interfaces
- T9 Predictive Text Input.
This makes typing out messages much faster and easier.
This is done by it predicting the words that you are typing,
and if it is correct, you can just press Enter and the
word will be typed up for you.
- SMS, EMS and MMS Messaging
capabilities.
- SMS (short messaging service),
EMS (enhanced messaging service) and MMS (multimedia messaging
service). With the MMS feature, you can share
multimedia content with your friends and family by emailing
them content such as ringtones, screensavers, wallpapers,
3gp videos and more. Here's a comparison between EMS and
MMS:
- EMS allows you to
format your text messages to make them look more professional
and organized. Things such as font size, alignment, styles,
single/double spaced and paragraphs make up EMS.
- MMS on the
other hand allows you to attach videos, sounds and photos
(.gif and .jpg formats) to a text message. So if you have
to send a greeting with sound and video to a loved one,
MMS will help you do it!
- Email and chat
(Yahoo, ICQ and AIM Messengers).
