The Korean version of the chocolate hand-set has been released in early March in Europe . The cellphone was officially launched in last November in Korea , summing up to 300 000 units sold already. This great success of the chocolate cellphone is motivated by its features: fashionable design, 1.3 MegaPixel camera with LED flash, shared internal memory of 128 MB, USB 1.2 mass storage support, MP3 player and many other attractive features.  The "chocolate" phone weighs in at 83 grams and has a nice display of 220 x 176 pixels, integrated in an innovative design. The screen comes to surface from under the sleek design of the phone. Displaying 256 000 colors, the screen can be used as a view finder for the 1.3 MegaPixel camera. By associating phone ID's for every caller, you could see on the screen the picture of the one calling you, a very neat feature indeed! The screen can also be customized with pictures and colors, to suit any mood of the user. The cellphone features a touch-sensitive navigation keypad, which is inactive when the phone is closed, but turn into a vibrant red color when the phone becomes active. The hidden heat sensitive touch pad reacts to warm touch, making it impossible to become active for example from object touch. |
That which defines the new chocolate type cell phone from other cell phones, is the slim and sleek design, wrapped into a very pleasant appearance and making it a very easy to use phone. Why chocolate? Because LG KG800 has the aspect of a chocolate bar, of course and because of the most popular color, which is black. Since the release of the cellphone and since the records of a great success, LG has launched two more colors: pink and white. Likewise, Motorola had released pink and black RARZ Z3 cellphones earlier. Still LG differentiates itself from the other cellphones, recording a great success on a permanent basis since the release.
The phone functions in 3 bands: GSM 900/1800 and 1900, but the GPRS add-on is a must, so the phone has GPRS access too. The bands available, allow you to take the phone abroad with you, since it would work in most of the US and Europe networks. On the other hand, one could benefit more from a four band cellphone like Motorola RAZR V3i.
Digital Camera and Other Basic Features 
The KG800 does not stand out only by design, but also by the 1.3 MegaPixel camera with integrated flash. The maxim resolution the camera is capable to take pictures at is 1280 by 960 pixels. When entering the camera mode, you could easily notice that the camera is rather slow to use. To avoid the picture being blurry and to take a good picture, you should hold the camera still for a few seconds, about 10 seconds. The quality of the pictures does not compare to one of an authentic digital camera, but the quality is pretty good though.
Worrying about where to store the picture where to take? Worry no more. Because LG KG800 features full USB support. When connecting the phone to the PC, no drivers whatsoever are needed. It would appear as a USB Flash drive in Windows Explorer. Accessing the removable drive, you can play a bit with Music, Photos, Videos, Text and Others folders.
The music lover has at a glance the built in Music Player which supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC++, WMA; 3GP, MP4. Concerning the functions available, some of them would be: equalizer modes, random play, different skin sets. The quality of the songs that are stored have an impact on the number of songs to be stored. Since there is no expansion slot for memory, the user has at his use only the 128 MB internal memory. Consequently, you could store up to 20-25 songs at a decent quality. The sound quality is excellent. As a minus, the music side of the phone does not stand out by anything impressive. Also, there is no FM radio, whose absence could matter for some users. Nevertheless, you could use MP3's as ringtones or just use polyphonic ringtones. The KG800 records and plays videos too, the recording format being 3GP.
Communication wise, the LG KG800 has a WAP browser, but not with full HTML support. It would be able, though, to open simple HTML pages. It is a simple Web browser, obviously not something the phone is proud of.
For entertainment purposes, the LG KG800 offers you games: one preinstalled game and a SUDOKU puzzle.
To sum up with, the cell phone does differentiate itself form other cellphones by the innovative and attractive design, even luxurios. On the other hand, the capabilities of the phone are not that great, when thinking about the battery life, the lagging text input, and the no-expandable memory issue.
