Design & Functionality
Weighing in at 134 grams, the LG F9200 is heavier than its predecessor model, the F9100. Measuring 110 x 50 x 25 mm, the phone has a nice slide in Qwerty keyboard that makes typing so much more easier compared to other phones. Furthermore, its not so heavy and about perfect size that can be carried around to work, school or to the beach for that matter!
The outer grey colored edges of the phone have a soft round feeling making it very easy to handle. The screen is also very vibrant thanks to a 65k LCD color screen showing important features such as:
- Battery Strength
- Reception Signals
- Time & Date
Below the 5 way navigational keypad, you will find the following easy access menu buttons:
- Send
- Clear
- End
- Left & Right (for browsing through contacts list, etc)
On the left sides of the phone, you will find the following controls:
- Speaker Volume
- Standby Mode
Whereas on the right side of the phone:
- Digital camera start up key
- Handsfree communication capabilities
Messages

Users of the phone can have 10 email accounts set up with Cingular's Mobile Email Service that work together with Hotmail, AOL and Yahoo. Not only that, the service can collaborate together with email protocols POP3, SMTP and IMAP4. If you like to chat to your friends, then you can do so via Yahoo, AIM or ICQ messengers that allow upto 10 conversation windows open at one time. Who needs a PC anymore!?
Some of the main strengths of the LG F9200 phone are its messaging capabilities. Featuring a Qwerty keyboard, the F9200 makes it very easy to type out words and handle the phone. Supporting SMS (Short Messaging Services), EMS (Enhanced Messaging Services) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Services), the phone can accomodate messages of upto 918 characters (64 KiloBytes) each. Here are some functions of EMS and MMS:
- EMS allows you to format your text messages to make them look more professional and organized. Things such as font size, alignment, styles, single/double spaced and paragraphs make up EMS.
- MMS on the other hand allows you to attach videos, sounds and photos (.gif and .jpg formats) to a text message. So if you have to send a greeting with sound and video to a loved one, MMS will help you do it! With the 0.3 megapixels digital camera included, you can take your photos and attach them to emails and share them with loved ones all with the click of a few buttons!
Audio
The audio side of the LG F9200 could have been better. The phone lacks modern sophisticated features such as a built in MP3 player or FM Radio. However, the phone is packaged with a handsfree speakerphone so that you don't have to hold the phone near your ear, whilst speaking.
Furthermore, you can set cool ringtones as incoming tones in MP3 or 64 chord formats. So next time you receive a call, you don't have to hear the same old boring tring tring tunes, you can set up a cool rap ringtone to buzz you! Check here for lots of downloadable free ringtones.
