The LG LX550 will be released in the next few coming months to U.S. Cellular, the 8th largest wireless cell phone services provider in the United States. Dan Gralak, vice president of sales of LG Electronics quotes, "Partnering with U.S. Cellular allows LG to bring our feature set and our well-designed, stylish phones to a whole new group of consumers. This phone offers consumers the safety of hands-free operation and the convenience of voice command in addition to a great selection of features and the unique style of an LG handset."

The LX550 comes with a built-in MP3 player that can play thousands of songs stored on the microSD removable disk slot. Users can also tune into their favourite FM stations via the FM Transmitter. Here are some more features of the LG LX550:

- Built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera with auto zoom, focus, video recording & playback.

- Voice-enabled commands allowing you to rapidly access quick features such as accessing contact list, digit dial, redial, voice mail, driving, schedule and time.

- FM Stereo Radio Receiver allows you to listen to FM radio not only on the cell phone but also in your car thanks to Bluetooth technology.

- External OLED display giving quick access to convenient features such as caller ID, battery levels, signal, time/date, etc.

- OpenWave WAP 2.0 enabled with EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized) allowing rapid data transfer rates and higher internet surfing.

- Speakerphone and handsfree functionality

- English & Spanish user interfaces

- T9 Predictive Text Input. This makes typing out messages much faster and easier. This is done by it predicting the words that you are typing, and if it is correct, you can just press Enter and the word will be typed up for you.

- SMS, EMS and MMS Messaging capabilities.

- SMS (short messaging service), EMS (enhanced messaging service) and MMS (multimedia messaging service). With the MMS feature, you can share multimedia content with your friends and family by emailing them content such as ringtones, screensavers, wallpapers, 3gp videos and more. - EMS allows you to format your text messages to make them look more professional and organized. Things such as font size, alignment, styles, single/double spaced and paragraphs make up EMS.

- MMS on the other hand allows you to attach videos, sounds and photos (.gif and .jpg formats) to a text message. So if you have to send a greeting with sound and video to a loved one, MMS will help you do it
