WAP Internet
The WAP Internet features of the Nokia 6103 are quite advanced. Allowing users to surf webpages via WAP 2.0 markup language, the 6103 boasts a browsing speed of 48kbps (thanks to GPRS - General Packet Radio Service). This speed can also be upgraded via T-Mobile's EDGE (Enhanced Data rate for GSM Evolution) services.
If you choose T-Mobile's EDGE technology, you will be able to surf the Internet at speeds of 70 -140 kbps. This is 3-4 times faster than traditional GPRS networks. Here are some characteristics of EDGE Technology:
- Covers over 13000 US Towns/Cities (over 39000 miles of US highways)
- The total American population it reaches out to is 253 million

Memory Capacity
The internal memory capacity if 4.2mb for storage of ringtones, mp3 files, wallpapers, screensavers, videos, etc. This is extremely low compared to other phones that have over 150mb in storage capacity. Furthermore, the Nokia 6103 does not come with an expansion slot, therefore you cannot add more memory to the already 4.2mb allocated memory. Sucks big time! Connections
The 6103 is well equipped with Bluetooth technology as well as an Infrared Port. Bluetooth technology allows the phone to communicate and share information/files from various other devices including PCs, Laptops, PDAs, digital cameras, stereo headsets and more. However, all these devices must be located within a 10 metre range to the phone.
Entertainment
The 6103 is J2ME enabled (Java 2 Micro Edition) that allows you to download cell phone games from various sites and play them on your phone. Check here for a list of free cell phone games.
Furthermore, additional games and multimedia can be downloaded from T-Mobile's own multimedia network called T-Zones. Most of them cost between $2.99 - 6$. |
