Nokia 6103 Introduction | Messages / Screen / Audio | Entertainment | Details and Specs| Picture Gallery

Introduction

The Nokia 6103 is an improvement from the previous 6101 model with added Bluetooth technology. Released for T-Mobile, The 6103 is designed for its classy yet compact design and is set to compete against Motorola's ultra-thin clamshell phones.

Measuring 85 x 45 x 24 mm and weighing in at 97 grams, the Nokia 6103 has a 4k color external screen and an Infrared Port located besides the right edge (where the dedicated digital camera key is located). With Infrared Port, users can hook up the phone with other devices for easier sharing of files, data and information.

The Nokia 6103 has a 65k color screen with a 5 way navigation keypad.

Some of the business features of the phone include built-in handsfree speakerphone allowing rapid and trouble free communication with business clients, voice dialing and recording, FM radio to listen to latest business news, sport, weather and more.

Further integrated with the phone is a VGA Digital Camera (0.3 megapixels) that has a convenient dedicated camera key located on the phone. Nokia Xpress Audio allows you to send audio messages to friends/business clients/loved ones with a few button presses.

Digital Camera and Other Basic Features

The 6103 comes built-in with a VGA 0.3 megapixel digital camera with a fair number of sophisticated features. The first is the convenient dedicated camera key button located on the right edge of the phone. After pressing the dedicated camera key, the internal LCD changes into the camera viewfinder.

The resolution sizes available is 640 x 480 pixels. Comparing the 6103's digital camera with other phones such as Sony Ericsson W600i, the 0.3 megapixels is quite low. Nokia could have done better with atleast a 1.3 megapixel digital camera.

Photos can be taken and saved as JPEG files. The resolution options are High, Basic and Normal. If you take pictures in High mode, they will probably be unusable due to the low image qualities and 0.3 megapixels. Furthermore, missing from this phone are features such as digital camera zoom, color balance, control of brightness and exposure, etc.

On a more positive note, the digital camera can record video files and save it in H.263 and AMR formats. The available recording resolution sizes include 128 x 96 pixels (QCIF).

Basic Features

- Alarm Clock

- Calculator

- Calendar

- T9 Predictive Text Input (with this feature, the software predicts the words you are just about to type, and gives you a list of suggestions in drop down menu format. You just select the right word and the job is done!)

- SMS (short messaging service), EMS (enhanced messaging service) and MMS (multimedia messaging service). Here is the difference between MMS and EMS:

- EMS allows you to format your text messages to make them look more professional and organized. Things such as font size, alignment, styles, single/double spaced and paragraphs make up EMS.

- MMS on the other hand allows you to attach videos, sounds and photos (.gif and .jpg formats) to a text message. So if you have to send a greeting with sound and video to a loved one, MMS will help you do it!

- Speakerphone

- Email (POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP)
