Introduction

The Samsung SGH-ZX10 is the first ever 3G enabled clamshell cell phone produced by Samsung. Weighing at 105 grams and measuring 88 x 48 x 26 mm, the phone sports a colorful 262k display color screen with resolution of 176 x 220 pixels.

Boasting a variety of sophisticated features such as a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with video recording and playback, MP3 player and access to Cingular's video-on-demand services, the phone runs on UMTS networks (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) thereby providing rapid data transfer rates of between 200 - 320 kbps.

With Cingular's video-on-demand service, users of this phone can watch tons of video clips from channels such as:

- Fox Sports
- iFilm
- Cartoon Network
- ESPN

Users of the phone can keep in touch with loved ones via built in chat platforms such as ICQ, Yahoo and AIM Messenger as well as by sending email through Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail. The available email protocols include: POP3, SMTP and IMAP4

Thanks to J2ME (Java 2, Micro Edition) tons of cell phone games, ringtones, wallpapers and screensavers can be downloaded onto the phone. With 50mb of internal memory, users can allocate even more memory or storage space via a TransFlash memory expansion slot. So no matter how much multimedia content have you stored on the phone, you will always have enough memory space to enjoy it!

Digital Camera

The Samsung SGH-ZX10 sports a 1.3 megapixel digital camera embedded on the top of the phone. Although the phone does not have a 3.2 megapixel phone like the sony ericsson w600i or other 2.0 megapixel Motorola phones, it can take high quality resolution photos (JPEG format) in the following sizes:

- 1280 by 1024 pixels
- 640 by 480 pixels
- 320 by 240 pixels
- 176 by 144 pixels

The phone has features such as 2x optical zoom and auto focus integrated into the camera. 2x optical zoom allows you to get nearer to the photo target without losing any resolution. Other cell phones will actually not let you zoom in 2x but just crop the photos. Not with the zx10! The resolution will not be cropped whether you zoom in or out.

The SGH-ZX10 lets you record upto 1 hour of video (176 x 144 pixels - 15 frames per second) and store it on your cell phone using the 50mb allocated memory and additional TransFlash memory expansion slot. The storage formats are 3GP and MPEG4.

The a940 is more like Adobe Photoshop junior. How you ask? It supplies a ton of filters and effects that you can use to spice up your photos, and just take high picture resolution photos. Some of them include:
