AFLT stands for Advanced Forward Link
Trilateration. This is a kind of of handset based location
positioning technology but unlike A-GPS, it does not use
GPS satellites to determine location.
To determine a location, the technology
calculates and retrieves measurements from nearby cell
phone towers (base stations) and then transmits this data
(time and distance) over to the network. In order for
it to find the correct location, it must communicate with
atleast 3 base towers.
