Sony Ericsson W518a Review – “I got the music in me!”

The Sony Ericsson W518a is a sleek, thin looking flip phone. It’s fairly standard besides the preloaded apps and music player.
Tons of apps
The Sony Ericsson W518a is full of all kinds of apps. Check your Facebook quickly with their app, or update and upload pictures to all of your social network profiles with JuiceCaster. Do your banking from your phone with Mobile Banking, or look up your best friend from high school with YellowPages Mobile. Watch music and videos with MobiDJ and MobiVJ, and even make your own ringtones from the music on your phone.

The Sony Ericsson W518a from AT&T is the best phone for MP3s.

MP3 features

Want visualizers? Just close the phone and watch it in either portrait or landscape mode after setting your preferences. Make a few playlists, listen to the same CD over and over again or just shuffle through your whole music selection. The Sony Ericsson W518a even supports album art. Boost the bass or treble in the equalizer and hang out on the airplane without interfering with the technology by using airplane mode.
Shake control
This is a fairly new concept. Say you want to change the song you’re listening to while walking down the street, but it’s on your favorite playlist so you don’t care what the next song is. Hit the next button on the outside of the phone, and shake the phone. Yes, shake the phone. It sounds weird, and maybe it is, but it’s effective. There’s also gesture control, which allows you to control the volume of the phone with gestures in front of the camera. Think of it as sign language for your cell phone.
Flashy Keypad
The alphanumeric keypad is…different. Each key is a circular button, and they aren’t connected. It might seem weird to get used to because texting won’t be as fluid of a motion, but you’ll probably get the hang of it. This definitely constitutes it as a try it before you buy it situation.
Battery Life
You’re looking at about seven hours of talk time, which will be lessened by the amount of music you listen to. However, if it’s on airplane mode then it won’t drain the battery too much.
