How to Tell If My Cellphone Is Being Monitored?

By Donald AtkinsDecember 17, 2021

Many people have a gut feeling that something isn’t right with their device, but they don’t know what to do about it. If you want to protect yourself and your privacy from the prying eyes of others, some telltale signs can help you determine if someone has been spying on your cellphone.

It’s important to know how to tell if my cellphone is being monitored because there are many reasons why people want access to our phones without us knowing about it. For example, they could be trying to steal personal data from our device or even use it as a listening device to spy on us. In some cases, they may even have installed malware onto the device, which allows them remote access to all of its functions and features.

Following are some of how you might think your phone is being monitored.

Battery Drainage

Generally, spying apps run in the background, consuming the battery rapidly, causing your phone to die very quickly compared to normal usage.

Unwanted Apps

If you find an app on your phone that you did not download, then there is a possibility it's been tampered with. These unwanted apps could be posing as any other legitimate software and recording everything we do with them.

Device Malfunctioning

If you're thinking that your phone is being monitored, some possible signs regarding device malfunction include: flashing blue or red screen when starting up the device; automated settings like answering calls by voice (even if they aren't plugged into an outlet); unresponsive touchscreen input methods. These could all mean someone has intruded on what should be personal space.

Background Noise

The best way to know if your phone has been compromised is by listening carefully while making a call. If there's background noise or echo, then the chances are high that someone else might be able to hear what you're saying on the other end of this conversation.

Odd Browsing History

Check the browsing history on your device and see which apps were opened recently by someone else or for unknown purposes, as those could be tracking applications.
